Meet Big T - Courtesy Post
His name is Big T, but we just call him T. His birthday is January 8, 2018. He is a neutered French Bulldog/Bulldog mix and weighs about 40 pounds.
Beautiful and affectionate, T is looking for a home with **no other pets**. He would do best with someone who works from home or is retired. He's happy to be a couch potato snuggled under a blanket next to you all day, or to follow you wherever you go. He loves car rides, walks, and runs, as well as basking in the sun in the backyard. T knows basic commands and is treat-motivated. He is up-to-date on vaccines for the next three years, and his most recent annual lab work came back great! His full medical history will be provided. Questions are welcome.
His current owner is an RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician) at a local veterinary office. I also have a 7-year-old, half-French, half–Old English Bulldog. He was an adoption reject as a puppy, and I adopted him at 3 to 4 months old. Unfortunately, he cannot be around other dogs unless they are puppies who grow up around him. Otherwise, he becomes aggressive, especially if toys, food, or human attention are involved. He is highly resistant to training, and medications that were recommended have not helped. While he loves people and is a perfect gentleman at the vet, he is not safe around other animals.
He used to be very friendly with cats, especially the foster kittens I brought home. He was great at helping them get used to dogs. However, over the past three years, he has become increasingly aggressive toward the cats. He now attacks them just for entering a room. So far, he hasn’t broken the skin or caused serious injury, but his bites have caused muscle pain. I can no longer risk serious harm coming to my cats.
He has had a comprehensive exam and lab work every year. A few years ago, we even had an MRI and spinal tap done. He is completely healthy, and I carefully manage his health and environmental allergies. I believe he would thrive in a home with **no other pets**, ideally with a retired person or someone who is home frequently. He’s a true couch potato who just wants to lie next to someone under a blanket all day, but he also enjoys going for walks—and he can keep up with runners too. He will happily follow you everywhere.
I absolutely hate the idea of rehoming a pet, and I’ve tried to make it work for years, sacrificing the well-being of both my family and my pets. But it’s not just about my cats' safety—he’s clearly not happy having to share affection. He is adorable and looks almost entirely like a French Bulldog, but with longer legs and a slightly longer muzzle. He has **no breathing issues** and maintains an average weight of 40 pounds.
His skin and ears stay healthy as long as he receives a medicated bath at least once a month, which he is used to. He’s treat-motivated for baths as well. He has been boarded about half a dozen times at the veterinary offices where I’ve worked, and he’s always been very well-behaved. My coworkers like him a lot—but unfortunately, they all have cats.
Big T is in the Sacramento area.

Meet Jenga - DPS Rescue Courtesy Post
Jenga's adoption fee has been partially sponsored by a generous donor!
Jenga is a 3-year-old French Bulldog who we rescued from the local shelter. A cold kennel is no place for such a handsome guy like Jenga! This dude is all the best parts of the Frenchie breed. Those who know and love Frenchies should look no further than Jenga. |
We will be prioritizing homes who have experience with this type of breed and are aware of their health concerns.
Jenga has seen an eye specialist and is blind in one eye and is missing partial vision in the other. He still sees enough not to bump into things. To be honest, he’s so confident that it took us a few months to notice he couldn’t see too well, which says a lot about him! He doesn’t let a little thing like vision stop him from living his best life. The eye issue is not congenital but rather a lack of care. He has damage to the corneas from an injury. Poor dude never got the help he needed to protect his eyes. It does give him a bit of a funny look, but we think it's adorable!

Meet Ms. Penelope - Courtesy Post
Penelope, who goes by Penny, is 3 yrs old. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and microchipped. She is potty trained and crate trained.
We originally adopted her from our Local SPCA.
Penny is loving and playful. She is very energetic, but will spend most of the day napping. She is friendly with everyone she meets. Penny usually gets very excited with visitors, but will eventually calm down and either sleep or enjoy the extra attention. Penny does well with mellow dogs.
Penny has had issues with IVDD. She has recovered well after each episode, but she will need an owner who is knowledgeable about this condition and can provide her with the appropriate care. Due to this, Penny would be better fit in a peaceful home with mellow pets.
Penny loves to cuddle and go on short car rides. She will be a loving and faithful companion animal to the right person(s).
Last year Penelope (Penny) was in pain and her rear legs were paralyzed. She was treated conservatively with medication and crate rest. Penny almost fully recovered in about 3 days. She could walk and run but had a bit of weakness in her right rear leg. I continued to keep her on crate rest until she completed the 8 weeks, then she started physical therapy. She had a flare up months later and was treated again with meds and crate rest. I have kids and whenever they play and their energy is high, Penny also gets excited and wants to jump and rough house. I have been contemplating for months whether our home is the best place for her. I feel that she might have less risks being in a calmer environment. Maybe a new owner would be able to provide the environment and care that she deserves and this would give her the best chance of a happy and healthy life. Penny is a sweet girl who needs a calmer lifestyle with owners who are familiar with IVDD and occasional flare ups.

Meet Kobe - Courtesy Post
Kobe is 4 1/2 yrs old. He is scheduled to be neutered soon. He is current on vaccines, heartworm tested (negative) & microchipped. He will remain with his current owner while a new home is looked for. All interest will be passed onto them for review.
Kobe is still a work in progress on his house training. He will go on wee-wee pads. He sleeps in his own bed at night. He prefers that over a crate. Kobe is good with small, mellow dogs, but he doesn't do well with big dogs. NO CATS. He is looking for a new home where he can be the only dog or where there are small dogs (spayed and neutered).
Kobe enjoys going for walks. A stroll around the neighborhood is one of his favorite things. His owner says that he doesn't really play with toys. He is a very sweet boy looking for his final, forever home.
There is a re-homing fee for Kobe.

Meet Stitch - Courtesy Post
Stitch is with Animal Friends Rescue Project
Stitch came to AFRP after he was brought to a local animal hospital for help with a prolapsed rectum. He is now fully recovered, and excited to meet his future family! This 2-year-old pup is super into balls and loves to play! According to his fosters, he is friendly with humans of all ages and sizes! He is very eager to please and will make a great companion. Stitch enjoys cuddles and napping on the couch. He has started his training and is learning basic commands. He is still working on his manners as he sometimes gets overly excited. At this time Stitch isn't sure about other dogs so he would do best as the only dog in the household. We are looking for adopters who have experience working with dogs that can be reactive on a leash to other dogs. Also, Stitch isn't a fan of cats so no cats, please.
Stitch is looking for an adopter who has experience with brachycephalic breeds (flat-faced dogs) and understands their continued needs, and possible added medical care. These adorable pups can be a bit more costly!
Stitch comes with pre-registration for one-on-one classes to help with his exposure to other dogs and general basic obedience. He will also do best with gentle children 8 and up.
He is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be scheduled once your online application has been received and approved.
